The Arab States Digital Day at Mobile World Congress (MWC) Barcelona 2024 harnesses the potential of such regional compact to propel the Digital for Sustainable Development (D4SD) Initiative forward and strengthen the strategic collaboration with countries in the region as well as private sector partners. As a key outcome, Digital Day aims to establish a dialogue mechanism between countries and the private sector to discuss priorities and opportunities in terms of Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI), showcasing efforts by digital transformation leaders, and signing partnerships for digital collaboration in the region. 

Well-designed Digital Public Infrastructure can help and empower countries to achieve their national priorities and accelerate the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), with governments, donors, the private sector, and civil society alike having a pivotal opportunity to shape it. Today’s decisions by countries on how to build countries DPI will have lasting consequences on their opportunity to grow and innovate. As such, Digital Public Infrastructure is a key breakthrough that gives the momentum needed to change course of digital transformation. The Arab States Digital Day poses itself as a key opportunity to strengthen the collaboration between governments, international organizations, and private sector leaders to partner in the field of DPI under the Digital for Sustainable Development Framework.  

A key instrument to be launched during the MWC to support regional cooperation will be the Arab States Digital Knowledge Hub of initiatives for the SDGs. The latter will serve as a critical instrument to develop a pipeline for partners’ digital initiatives and projects on country, regional and global levels, with the objective of maximizing response and impact on the Human Development Agenda.  

By advancing partnerships and efforts for digital transformation, the Digital Day at Barcelona MWC marks a pivotal milestone within the framework of Digital for Sustainable Development (D4SD) towards the Arab Summit 2024,   the Summit of the Future, and the Pact for the Future’s focus on science, technology and innovation and digital cooperation.
