UNDP and Derasat partner to drive digital transformation in Bahrain through the national human development report
November 5, 2024
Manama, Bahrain – UNDP Bahrain and Bahrain Center for Strategic, International, and Energy Studies (Derasat) signed a project document to develop the Kingdom’s National Human Development Report (NHDR), focused on advancing digital transformation. This report aims to serve as a strategic tool for harnessing digital innovation to promote inclusive growth aligned with Bahrain Vision 2030 and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The NHDR on Digital Transformation: A Roadmap for Progress
The upcoming NHDR will present an in-depth analysis of how digital transformation can foster human development in Bahrain, addressing critical areas such as the digital divide, privacy, cybersecurity, and the integration of digital technologies into public services. This report will also highlight the opportunities digital transformation presents for social and economic development, as well as the challenges that come with it.
In addition to assessing Bahrain’s digital landscape, the report will benchmark Bahrain’s progress against regional and international standards, providing actionable insights and recommendations to enhance digital inclusion, safeguard privacy, and secure digital infrastructures for a more resilient society.
A Partnership for Inclusive and Sustainable Growth
UNDP’s collaboration with Derasat and other partners – including government entities, civil society organizations, and the private sector – ensures that the NHDR reflects a diverse array of perspectives and aligns with Bahrain’s national development goals. This partnership aims to establish a foundation for policies and strategies that integrate digital technologies to support inclusive, sustainable growth across Bahrain.
UNDP Bahrain is committed to fostering digital transformation that empowers communities and ensures equal access to technology and opportunities for all citizens and residents. As we work together with Derasat, the Kingdom of Bahrain, and our partners, we look forward to driving meaningful progress toward a digitally inclusive society.
