The adoption of electric vehicles in the Kingdom has increased very rapidly to 1,489 (including 683 four-wheeler EVs and 410 three-wheeler EVs) as of December 2023, according to the Ministry of Public Works and Transport.
The Roadmap for Development of an EV Charging Stations Network has the objectives of assessing the need for charging stations in coherence with the EV market projections, setting priorities for infrastructure development, identifying the regulatory framework with recommended actions, and assessing financial and capacity building needs.
The Roadmap analyzes three scenarios for the adoption of EVs in Cambodia from 2022 to 2050. Scenario EV 1 is the conservative one, whereas EV 2 is a more realistic update of EV in Cambodia. The EV 3 model is the aspirational scenario aligned with the Long-term Strategy for Carbon Neutrality in Cambodia.
