This publication is an information brochure about the ozone layer and its protection that covers four key topics:

• Why the ozone layer is important.
• Ozone-depleting substances and their use.
• Regulations by international and national legislation on ozone-depleting substances.
• Safe alternatives to ozone-depleting substances and energy efficiency.

The publication is prepared by the NGO Georgia’s Environmental Outlook (GEO) in partnership with the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia with assistance from the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the Multi-Lateral Fund to the Montreal Protocol.
