Indonesia Just Energy Transition Partnership (JETP)
Indonesia JETP CIPP is Open for Public Comments
The Comprehensive Investment and Policy Plan (CIPP) for Indonesia Just Energy Transition Partnership (JETP) has been released for public comment.
The Indonesia JETP is a agreement to mobilize USD 20 billion in public and private financing to support a just energy transition in Indonesia. It was signed on 15 November 2022 at the G20 Leaders’ Summit in Bali between the President of Indonesia and the International Partners Group (IPG) led by USA and Japan. The Indonesia JETP targets by 2030 to cap total power sector emissions at 290-million-ton CO2eq, accelerate deployment of renewable energy to contribute at least 34% of all power generation, and to establish a goal to reach Net Zero Emissions in the power sector by 2050.
To implement the JETP agreement, the Government of Indonesia established JETP Secretariat with a target to produce Indonesia JETP CIPP. For the development of the CIPP, the JETP Secretariat is supported by four independent Working Groups consisting of Technical WG (led by International Energy Agency/IEA), Policy Working Group (led by the World Bank/WB), Financial WG (led by the Asian Development Bank/ADB), and Just Transition WG (led by United Nations Development Programme/UNDP). UNDP leads the Just Transition Working group involving WB, ADB, GIZ, ILO, and ICEL as members to contribute to developing the Just Transition Framework which becomes part of Indonesia JETP CIPP (Chapter 6 of CIPP). CIPP is a living document, JETP Secretariat is planning to have annual update of the JETP Indonesia CIPP.
