A revived house and renewed dreams for the future

It is an emotional moment for Paško Ivanović, a teacher residing in Kistanje, Croatia, who spent much of his childhood in Janjevë/Janjevo with his family. Today, he opens the doors to his restored home, which just a year ago was on the brink of ruin.

Paško's house is one of 14 cultural heritage sites in the Historic Centre of Janjevë/Janjevo undergoing revitalisation through the UNDP’s “Cultural Heritage as a Driver for Economic Revival of Janjevë/Janjevo” project. This initiative, funded by the European Union Office in Kosovo and the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports, aims to preserve the area’s rich cultural and architectural heritage while fostering economic growth.

“I’m incredibly emotional. My grandparents would be proud to see the house like this”, says Paško Ivanović, his voice filled with gratitude.
