Project overwiev
The Government of the Kyrgyz Republic, the European Union (EU) and the United Nations (UN) are implementing a three-year country program as part of the global Spotlight Initiative (hereinafter - the Project) aimed at eliminating all forms of violence against women and girls (VAWG). Similar programs are being implemented in more than 30 countries around the world.
The Project aims to ensure that all women and girls in Kyrgyzstan, especially those who are most vulnerable, can live without violence and are not subjected to harmful practices, such as forced child marriage and ala-kachuu. The Project works in the following priority areas:
1) Laws and Policies
2) Strengthening Institutions
3) Preventing VAWG and harmful practices
4) Quality basic services for survivors of SGBV
5) Improving statistics
6) Women's movement and civil society
The program works both at the national level and with local communities within 12 selected municipalities of Naryn, Osh and Chui oblasts.

Partners: In the Kyrgyz Republic, the Program is being implemented under the overall coordination of the Office of the UN Resident Coordinator and with the direct participation of UN agencies - UNDP, UN Women, UN Children's Fund (UNICEF), UN Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), UN Population Fund (UNFPA).
