Panama/Madrid, August 22. The Carolina Foundation and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Latin America and the Caribbean signed a collaboration agreement to facilitate research, educational programs, and knowledge dissemination that promote dialogue on democracy and sustainable development in the region.

This alliance seeks to promote synergies between the capacities, initiatives, and trajectories of both organizations through the production of knowledge, systematization and exchange of experiences, leadership training, and the promotion of spaces for reflection on central issues related to democracy and development, such as citizen security, the rule of law, technological transition, and governance in the region.

“This agreement is yet another effort to strengthen our work within the framework of the Sustainable Development Goals, bringing knowledge and technical cooperation in alliance with the multilateral system,” said Érika Rodríguez Pinzón, director of the Carolina Foundation.

The agreement will also facilitate the identification of lessons learned and best practices, the development of training initiatives for democratic leadership aimed at young people and women leaders, and of social awareness for their political participation and inclusion in economic and social development.

“We are honored to add the Carolina Foundation to our network of allies in favor of an inclusive and sustainable development in Latin America and the Caribbean. At UNDP, we promote the value of dialogue, knowledge, and partnerships to advance in reducing poverty and inequalities, promoting democratic governance, and accelerating sustainable development. This agreement will allow us to expand our joint impact to strengthen the responsiveness of institutions and public policies through effective and inclusive governance, based on evidence, and leaving no one behind,” affirmed Michelle Muschett, UNDP Regional Director for Latin America and the Caribbean.
