Teachers and pupils from 45 schools in Găgăuzia region attend classes in modern study rooms
November 8, 2022
45 schools were equipped with 32 interactive screens, 90 tablets, 90 pocket labs and high-performance computers, thanks to a project on digitalisation and modernisation of education in Găgăuzia, funded by UNDP and Government of Estonia. The value of the equipment provided amounts to approximately US$100,000.
Concurrently, more than 50 teachers will be trained to use the pocket labs to conduct physics and chemistry lessons in a more practical, interactive and interesting way. The respective teachers have previously completed a digital pedagogy introductory course.
“The pocket labs consist of several electronic devices with sensors to measure certain indicators such as light intensity, humidity, dew point, magnetic field, temperature, altitude, etc. This will spark pupils’ interest in learning about the environment,” said Vera Trandafilova, physics teacher at "Mihail Guboglo" High School in Ceadîr-Lunga municipality.
In 2021, the 45 beneficiary schools received another batch worth $100,000 containing 75 laptops, 20 tablets, 15 interactive screens, as well as interactive whiteboards and projectors.
In addition, UNDP will support expanding the functionalities of the www.educatieinteractiva.md portal of Chișinău General Directorate for Education, Youth and Sport. New templates for interactive exercises and an online lesson planning tool for teachers will be added. At the same time, an iOS and Android application will be developed to make the assignments available on mobile phones.
UNDP is supporting schools to become more resilient and continue their work in a crisis. During the pandemic, UNDP supported the optimisation of studii.md platform, created in 2019 with its support, in order to add new functionalities that facilitated the increasingly demanding work of school managers and teachers and reduced the pressure on pupils and their parents. All schools in Găgăuzia region have connected to studii.md with UNDP support.
