The nature reserve "Plaiul Fagului" is a symbol of the Ungheni region. On the territory of the tourist complex can be admired a vegetation of about 700 plant species, 27 of which are included in the Red Book of the Republic of Moldova.
The reserve is also home to animals like wild cat, wood jay, bad badger, fox, wild boar and deer.
The "Plaiul Fagului" nature reserve is a member of the “Dealurile Măgurii” tourism cluster, supported by the "EU4Moldova: Focal Regions" programme, funded by the European Union and implemented by UNDP and UNICEF.
With the support of the programme, the reserve received goods to equip the accommodation, bicycles and two apitherapy huts, and thus the tourist complex managed to attract more visitors, both from home and abroad.
Employees also benefited from training sessions, mentoring, participation in events, exhibitions, B2B meetings and promotion of tourism services.
The "Plaiul Fagului" nature reserve was nominated in the Eco-tourist Regions category of the "Destination of the Year 2024" competition, organized by the platform that inspires tourists to visit Romania and the Republic of Moldova.
The “EU4Moldova: Focal regions” Programme (2019-2024) supports intelligent, inclusive and sustainable social-economic development in the regions of Cahul and Ungheni to ensure better standards of living to the citizens. The programme has a total budget of 23 million EUR, it is funded by the European Union and implemented by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF).
