October 2, 2024
New York - The Government of Belgium has contributed EUR 9.5 million (USD 10.3 million) to UNDP's core resources for Fiscal Year 2024. This support enhances UNDP’s ability to respond to global crises and implement key initiatives aligned with our Strategic Plan 2022-2025.
Belgium's investment in core resources is vital for enabling UNDP to respond effectively to pressing global crises, including those in the Sahel, Ukraine, and Gaza. These unearmarked funds are a powerful tool, empowering UNDP to implement flagship initiatives such as the Climate Promise, Crisis Offer, and Gender Strategy, ensuring that the root causes of crises are tackled.
Core contributions from Belgium and other partners are crucial in strengthening UNDP’s oversight and accountability functions. They ensure that our programs are delivered effectively and efficiently, following the highest standards of transparency. UNDP is consistently rated among the most transparent international organizations, and we are committed to maintaining this reputation.
UNDP thanks Belgium for its support and trust in its work and mission and looks forward to a continued commitment and a strong partnership to support countries in their efforts towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.
