This publication documents objectives, results and lessons of UNDP-supported and GEF co-financed project to assist the Government of Mauritius in its efforts to improve the management of Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs) in the country. The overall objective of the project is to address the first two national priorities related to the reduction and elimination of Persistent Organic Pollutants as identified by the Republic of Mauritius in its 2005 National Implementation Plan (NIP):
1. Disposal of obsolete POPs chemicals and clean-up of POPs-contaminated areas; and
2. Development of alternative strategies for malaria vector management with reduced or no—reliance on DDT.
