Saudi Arabia is a net contributor country.

For UNDP, net contributor countries represent a special group that combines the principle of inclusiveness with the United Nations and the principle of hierarchy: all countries are eligible to participate in UNDP programmes, but high-income countries are affected by the resource reduction policies that can be provided by the United Nations Development Programme. The five net contributor countries of the Arab States - Bahrain, Kuwait, the Libyan Arab Jamahiriya, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates - are adapting to rapidly changing internal and external environments. Internally, all five countries have recently seen fast-growing economies coinciding with moves towards greater political openness. At the same time, it had to adapt to the past march of globalization and to challenge its role in this new external environment.  

The number and diversity of donors contributing to UNDP programmes confirms the confidence of the national government and the international and local community in our role as a partner of choice for sustainable development.
