Mrs. Emma N'Gouan-Anoh presented her credentials to His Excellency the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation on November 18

She took the opportunity to reaffirm UNDP's commitment to support the government and people of Djibouti in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.

Ms. Emma N'Gouan-Anoh (Côte d'Ivoire) has been appointed as UNDP Resident Representative for Djibouti on 15 november 2021.

Prior to this appointment, Emma was UNDP Deputy Resident Representative Programme/Operation in Congo Brazzaville since July 2018. She was UNDP Deputy Resident Representative Programme/Operation in Comoros (2014-2018), Assistant Resident Representative (Programme) (2011-2014) and Programme Specialist (2006-2011) in charge of Poverty reduction, inclusive growth and sustainable development Portfolio including climate change in UNDP Cote d'Ivoire Country Office. 

Before joining UNDP, she also served as National Coordinator of the National Programme of Poverty Reduction in the Ministry of Planning and Development where she supported the Government poverty reduction policies and strategies and the direct support to communities (2001-2005). From 1996 to 2001, Emma was Regional Manager and Coordinator of an international NGO working in the field of rural women and youth entrepreneurship, food security and poverty alleviation. She started her career in 1996 as consultant and research coordinator in the national agency for employment promotion, supporting youth and women's employment programs. 

Emma holds a Master of Arts in International Relations from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy, Tufts University in Boston, USA; She has a Master's degree (DESS) in economics of Development from University Pierre Mendes France in Grenoble, France. She is also an Engineer in Agronomy specialized in Agro-Economics from the National Polytechnic Institute (Ecole Superieure D'Agronomie, Institut Polytechnique, Yamoussoukro, Côte d'Ivoire). 

She speaks French and English.
