UNDP in Seychelles
Seychelles is an archipelago of 116 islands and 455 sq km located in the north of Madagascar. The country has the highest gross domestic product (GDP) per capita in Africa ($15,410 in 2016) and 70% of its gross domestic product, and more than 90% of its exports, depend on natural, pristine, diverse and productive terrestrial and marine ecosystem services for tourism and fisheries. These factors have made it imperative to adopt robust conservation and adaptation policies, and the Government of Seychelles continues to push for sustainable development and environmental protection promoting adaptation and mitigation measures.
