Partnerships
Partner of Choice
UNDP has been working for over 70 years in India as the lead agency for implementing SDGs in in partnership with the government, private sector and civil society. We work with the most vulnerable and disadvantaged communities and focus on ‘leaving no one behind’.
Government
UNDP is committed to achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and actively works with governments at the national, state, and local levels to improve service delivery and reach vulnerable and marginalized communities. In India, UNDP has a long-standing presence and has established partnerships with state governments to promote Human Development, Disaster Risk Reduction, Livelihood Generation, and Social Protection.
Given India's crucial role in achieving the SDGs, UNDP actively engages with central ministries, state governments, and local level governments to accelerate progress. Through its partnerships with governments, UNDP aims to foster a “whole - of - government” approach for faster achievement of national and internationally agreed goals.
In partnership with NITI Aayog, the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation, and the Ministry of Development of North-eastern Region, UNDP supports data analysis to promote data-driven decision-making.
Recognizing the pivotal role of state governments in the mission to achieve SDGs, UNDP supports the establishment of government-funded Sustainable Development Goal Coordination Centres (SDGCCs). These centers bolster planning and monitoring capacities at the State level and offer technical and substantive support to improve implementation and service delivery. Additionally, UNDP advocates for the integration of SDGs within Panchayati Raj Institutions and Urban Local Bodies across the country.
To supplement government partnerships, UNDP in India actively fosters collaborations with local communities, civil society organisations and the private sector.
Our partners :
Private Sector and Foundations
The Private Sector has an important role to play in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The Private Sector can invest capital in new technologies, infrastructure and networks, deliver important goods and services to underserved communities, and adopt inclusive core business practices for sustainable patterns of consumption and production. The 2030 Agenda also calls on businesses, ranging from microenterprises to multinational corporations, “to apply their creativity and innovation to solve sustainable development challenges”
Strategic partnerships with the private sector lie at the centre of UNDP’s engagement in India. We at UNDP are creating transformational partnerships with the private sector to co-create development solutions based on shared value. We engage with the private sector through strategic business partnerships, campaign and advocacy-centred programmes and by developing innovation or technical expertise-based partnerships.
