UNDP shares the international experience in the field of energy efficiency of residential buildings
Ashgabat, October 18-19, 2022: Within the framework of the joint project of UNDP and the Ministry of Agriculture and Environmental Protection of Turkmenistan "Sustainable Cities in Turkmenistan: Integrated Green Urban Development in Ashgabat and Avaza”, a training seminar was held themed “Energy Efficiency of Residential Areas as a Factor of Sustainable Urban Development”. The seminar was attended by representatives of state entities, teachers of higher educational institutions, specialists of the hotels of the National tourist zone “Avaza”.
During the seminar important issues of sustainable construction in Turkmenistan were discussed, including international experience in energy efficiency and green standards, green building, development and implementation of energy saving measures. The discussed topics are important for achieving the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions by reducing energy consumption as part of efforts to preserve the environment for future generations.
Within the framework of the project on the development of sustainable cities UNDP promotes the principles of sustainable development, including energy efficiency, environmental monitoring, waste management, and the promotion of sustainable transport. The project also plans to support the development of a national green standard for the hotel industry of Turkmenistan.
