UNDP Yemen COVID-19 Response: Second Quarter 2021

August 16, 2021

In our ninth COVID-19 newsletter, we reflect upon the second quarter of 2021 (April to June). Read how UNDP continues to work with local implementing partners to make a difference in preparing, responding, and recovering from the on-going COVID-19 pandemic in Yemen.

Our integrated approach includes action around: (a) helping Yemen prepare for and protect people from the pandemic and its impacts; (b) responding during the outbreak; and, (c) recovering from the economic and social impacts in the months to come.

Specifically, we help strengthen the health systems by assisting in the procurement of much-needed medical supplies, quickly leveraging digital technologies, and ensuring health workers are paid. We collaborate across key sectors to slow the spread of the virus and to provide social protection for vulnerable Yemeni populations. And we support the assessment of social and economic impacts of COVID-19 and take urgent recovery measures to minimize long-term impact - particularly for vulnerable and marginalized groups, and to help Yemen recover.
