On April 24th, 2024, a historic event unfolded at the Bella Casa Hotel in Sinkor, Monrovia, as the Peace Chocolate, also known as Wologizi Chocolate, was officially launched.

This significant milestone is the culmination of a collaborative effort between the Peace Dividend Initiative (PDI), a key partner of the Peace Dividends Project, and the Komassa Vornambah Women’s Group in Bolahun, Lofa County, alongside the Liberia Cocoa Corporation (LCC) as a technical partner. 

This initiative is supported by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and funded by the United Nations Peacebuilding Fund United Nations Peacebuilding through a joint project involving UNDP Liberia and the Center for Humanitarian Dialogue.

The project aims at economically empowering rural community women and facilitating increased income generation. More than just generating economic opportunities, this effort is a testament to the value addition of local Liberian communities, promoting social cohesion and peace within their communities and the broader region.

The launch of Peace Chocolate was led by Madam Ng’ong’a-Margaret Gulavic, Head of the United Nations Resident Coordinator Office in Liberia, showcasing the UN's unwavering commitment to fostering sustainable development and peace-building in the country.

Making remarks, Mr. John R Dennis, Programme Coordinator of the Peace-building Fund Secretariat, emphasized the significance of this initiative in advancing peace and prosperity in Liberia. "As Peace Chocolate makes its debut, it represents more than just a product. It embodies the resilience and unity of the communities involved, serving as a beacon of hope for a brighter future,” Dennis noted.
