September 27, 2024
A belltower, a synagogue, and the facades of a historic building and a cave monastery - these are the four sites on both banks of the Nistru River that will be restored with the support of the Confidence Building Measures Programme, funded by the European Union and implemented by UNDP Moldova.
Therefore, restoration and conservation works will be carried out at the following objectives:
- Cave Monastery in the village of Țîpova, Rezina;
- The bell tower in the village of Vadul lui Rașcov, Șoldănești;
- The ruins of the Great Synagogue in Rașcov;
- Facade of the interwar Savings and Treasury Bank building in Tighina (Bender).
The Rașcov Synagogue will be in its second stage of conservation and restoration, the first stage having been successfully carried out thanks to the support of the European Union and UNDP. This time the works will focus on the restoration of the Minore in the Great Hall and the Aron Codices in the Small Hall, with the recovery of original parts from individual collections.
The estimated budget for each will not exceed €72,000.
The restoration and conservation of cultural heritage is part of the Confidence Building Measures Programme, funded by the European Union and implemented by UNDP. Previously, with the support of the EU and UNDP, 12 cultural-historical sites on both banks of the Nistru were restored, including two flagship projects: the Circus building in Chișinău and the Tighina (Bender) Fortress.
The Programme contributes to building trust between people on both banks of the Nistru River involving them in joint development projects.
