The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) stands at the forefront of empowering businesses on their sustainability journeys, offering bespoke guidance, essential resources, and groundbreaking solutions. Through strategic partnerships, UNDP supports companies in integrating sustainable practices into their operations, addressing challenges ranging from carbon footprint reduction to enhancing social responsibility. In this transformative endeavor, UNDP collaborated with Fatima Fertilizer to develop the company’s Sustainability Framework, using the UNDP Impact Lab tool to map its contributions to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

This partnership has led to the creation of Fatima Fertilizer's inaugural Sustainability Framework, developed with the support of UNDP's comprehensive online toolkit. The framework focuses on six key sustainability themes: energy efficiency, waste reduction, responsible water and paper usage, increased tree planting, as well as a commitment to employee safety, health, gender diversity, inclusion, and leadership development.

The report highlights UNDP’s offerings to the private sector, notably the "UNDP Impact Lab" — an online platform that provides a structured pathway for businesses to assess their sustainability footprint, develop their SDG profile, and create a customized Sustainability Framework based on targeted indicators. This tool helps companies to meet regulatory disclosure requirements, and align with global sustainability and ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) standards.
