New York, Sept 13 - The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), Global Programme on Nature for Development has partnered with Mobile Film Festival to launch a call for submitting 1 minute nature-related films by October 12, 2021.
The call to submit a one-minute-long film on the theme of ‘Making Peace With Nature’ comes at a time when climate emergency is more often in the headlines than ever before. The selected films will feature prominent role of nature in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.
“Never has the theme of ‘making peace with nature’ been more relevant than today. UNDP is proud to partner with the Mobile Film Festival to help draw attention to our biodiversity crisis, and to inspire young filmmakers from around the world to tell their story about the need to change our relationship with the planet,” stated Haoliang Xu, UN Assistant Secretary General and Director of UNDP’s Bureau for Policy and Programme Support.
This year, the film festival will be affiliated with two major upcoming United Nations milestones. First, the Global Week to Act for Sustainable Development Goals (September 17-28, 2021), during which the Mobile Film Festival will be an official event. Subsequently, at COP26 in Glasgow (from October 31 to November 12, 2021), the final official selection of 50+ winning films will be screened.
“We are very enthusiastic this year to organize the 17th edition of the Mobile Film Festival in partnership UNDP, Global Youth Biodiversity Network, SDGs Action Week and many other UN initiatives and NGOs from all over the world. It is time for action, it is time to imagine a world where we can live in peace, it is time to change the rules. This is our purpose at Mobile Film Festival - to reveal new talented filmmakers who will inspire the world to take action," stated Bruno Smadja, CEO and Founder of the Mobile Film Festival.
