This is a collaborative project by the Ministry of Interior, United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), National Institute of Development Administration (NIDA), and Thailand Development Research Institute (TDRI) aims to create provincial Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) profiles for 15 target provinces in Thailand. These provinces include Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Mae Hong Son, Tak, Udon Thani, Ubon Ratchathani, Nakhon Ratchasima, Phetchaburi, Surat Thani, Phuket, Songkhla, Pattani, Yala, and Narathiwat.
The project aim to raise an awareness among provincial agencies about the importance of
sustainable development goals through these SDG profiles (hereafter, the report). The reports serve as a tool to enhance understanding of the alignment between sustainable development goals and provincial development strategies.
Specifically, the Chiang Mai’s SDG Profile Report provides an overview of the province's
sustainable development context using UN’s SDG indicators. It further analyzes the alignment among the SDGs , Chiang Mai Development Plan (2022 - 2027), and public perspectives on critical sustainability issues.. This report aims to provides the local government with a clear picture of Chiang Mai’s state of play in sustainable development. The province could use the insights from this report to identify its sustainable development gaps, and develop a strategy accordingly.
