In Eritrea, UNDP has remained a trusted partner of choice and a dependable alley since the past two decades, strategically positioned and working very closely with the Government of the State of Eritrea to advance Eritreans national development objectives and aspirations. UNDP in Eritrea is 25 years and celebrates its Silver Jubilee. Country office activities began in Eritrea in 1992 and were formalized in 1994. The UNDP believes that co-operation for economic and social development is a practical working proposition that has been successfully revived and implemented in Eritrea. It is remarkable to note that in partnership with UNDP and the UN System, Eritrea is amongst the few countries globally that achieved distinguished accomplishments regarding the health-related Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), achieving all the three health MDGs namely MDG-4, reduce child mortality, MDG-5 improve maternal health and MDG-6 combat HIV/AIDS, malaria and other diseases.
