On the Road to COP26

#ReimaginingDevelopment Seminar - On the Road to COP26
Webinar via Zoom at 14:00 -15:00 CET on Friday, March 26th 2021
This November in Glasgow, the UN Climate Change Conference COP26 will bring countries together to accelerate action towards the goals of the Paris Agreement and the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change. The outcome of the Conference plays a pivotal role in collectively addressing climate change, one of the most pressing global challenges of our time.
COP26, already postponed once due to the COVID-19 pandemic, is particularly significant as it is the first time that countries are expected to commit to enhanced ambitions since the adoption of the Paris Agreement in 2015. In this webinar, we will discuss what is at stake and how we can work together to improve the prospects for an ambitious outcome from COP26.
Leading up to the conference, how can countries be supported to strengthen their climate ambitions and scale-up impact? In what ways can we mobilize and engage all actors to collectively take ambitious climate action? As the world recovers from the COVID-19 pandemic, how can we integrate climate action into COVID-19 recovery plans in order to build forward greener?
Examples from UNDP’s Climate Promise will be used to explore how UNDP, together with partners, are working towards enhanced climate action, on the road to COP26 and beyond.
Speakers:
- Janine Alm Ericson, State Secretary to the Minister of International Development Cooperation
- Cassie Flynn, Climate Change Advisor, UNDP
- Matilde Mordt, UNDP Resident Representative in Ecuador

The seminar series #ReimaginingDevelopment is hosted by UNDP Sweden with the aim to contribute to a deeper conversation about the future of development by exploring how we can reimagine the ways in which we address the major challenges of our time.
