The Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Webinar Series, organized by the Business for Goals Platform as a part of the “COVID-19 Crisis Resilience and Response Project” funded by the Japanese Government and implemented by UNDP, ended with the webinar on June 16. The webinars aimed to support the domestic production of PPE in the fight against COVID-19 to respond to the needs and questions of micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) that invest and/or plan to invest in this sector.
In the first webinar of the series, “Financial Overview of Personal Protective Equipment Production", held on June 2, resource needs and profitability analysis were examined from a financial point of view in the PPE production. Entrepreneurs planning to invest in the PPE sector were informed about the national and international grant, loan and support programs such as KOSGEB, TÜBİTAK, and Grant Guarantee Fund. In addition, the economic impact of the COVID-19 crisis on SMEs, the lessons to be learned and strategies to be applied in similar crises were discussed.
The second online meeting of the series took place on June 9. In the meeting titled “Marketing and Business Development in the Personal Protective Equipment Sector”, the actions taken by companies and investors in the PPE industry in the COVID-19 crisis during the preparation, response and recovery periods, the adaptation process, emerging new business models and changes in customer behavior were discussed. The webinar, which draws attention to issues such as the revision of the PPE supply and production processes, the increase in product diversity, certification, also referred to the experience learned from the COVID-19 crisis, such as the formation of a more competitive market in the PPE sector, the uncontrolled growth in production and the increase in stock ratios.
In the last webinar titled "SMEs in the Personal Protective Equipment Sector and the Global Market", held on June 16, the increasing supply of SMEs in the PPE sector during the pandemic, and their expansion to new markets in the following periods were discussed. The webinar also explained the emergency action plans carried out by the SMEs for global markets and the roadmap that the industry will follow after the pandemic.
