Accompanying Uganda's Development Journey - 1972 to 2023
October 22, 2024
The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) has been a partner to the Government and people of Uganda since 1972, walking alongside them, and implementing sustainable development for close to five decades in the quest to improve lives and lift people and communities out of poverty.
Uganda’s sustainable development journey is not only about incomes. This journey is about human beings: education, social development and many other parameters as spelled out in the 20230 Agenda and 17 sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), in the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) at the turn of the century, and in the early decades since UNDP’s founding in 1965 to help countries eliminate poverty and achieve sustainable human development. It is an approach to economic growth that emphasizes improving the quality of life of all citizens while conserving nature climate and environment for future generations.
