UNDP and Zamin Foundation sign a Memorandum of Understanding

On 1 May 2023 Matilda Dimovska, UNDP Resident Representative and Tamila Alieva, Director of Zamin Foundation signed the Memorandum of Understanding to further strengthen cooperation in the areas of climate change management, environment protection, biodiversity conservation, natural resource management, and sustainable rural development.
Parties will cooperate not only in policy advice, but also conducting environmental impact assessments, piloting innovative approaches and technologies as well as designing and implementing public awareness-raising campaigns on sustainable environment protection and management of natural resources, including those focused on eco-education activities for young people.
Matilda Dimovska, UNDP Resident Representative noted,
“Our partnership is particularly relevant in these challenging times, during which Uzbekistan’s environmental sector continues to face a wide range of threats, including air and water pollution, biodiversity fragmentation, connected with rapid industrialization and development of farming, infrastructure and tourism. Now is a great time for us to join efforts in supporting the people of Uzbekistan on their pathway to sustainable development.”
The signed Memorandum of Understanding will serve as a basis for a joint work plan designed in line with the most pressing development challenges of the country and the current UNDP programme priorities for Uzbekistan.
