UNDP partnered with the Office of Human Rights Commissioner (Ombudsman) of the Republic of Azerbaijan to develop the "Overview of the Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights". 
This initiative was carried out as part of the "Mainstreaming Human-Rights Based Approach through Strengthened Institutional Capacity in Azerbaijan" Project. The content of the overview draws upon the "Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights" established by UN Human Rights Council Resolution No. 17/4 on June 16, 2011, the "Guidelines on National Action Plans on Business and Human Rights" from 2016, and aligns with the provisions outlined in the "Edinburgh Declaration" of the International Coordinating Committee of National Institutions for the Promotion and Protection of Human Rights (ICC) issued on October 10, 2010. 
The primary objective of creating this overview is to enhance awareness among state institutions, private companies, civil society organizations, and the general public, including other target groups. It aims to inform them about the Guiding Principles and their implementation at the national level, address the priority issues that lie ahead, and highlight the activities and role of the Ombuds Office in this domain.
