UNDP Gender Equality Strategy for Europe and Central Asia (2024-2025)
UNDP Gender Equality Strategy for Europe and Central Asia (2024-2025)
December 3, 2024
This strategy details the UNDP's approach to harnessing regional dynamics, both challenges and enablers, to counter the gender employment gap, the underrepresentation of women in political and decision-making roles and green and STEM jobs, and to release the disproportionate burden of unpaid care work on women. This is even more important in light of the decline in democratic values, the rise in gender-based violence, retrograde trends, and shrinking civic space that further exacerbate the situation.
The Strategy was developed in consultation with many stakeholders, including women’s organizations who are a key partner of UNDP. This document is not just a roadmap; it is a call to action. It urges all UNDP Offices to renew their commitment to gender equality and to take bold steps towards achieving a region where all women and girls have the opportunity to realize their full potential. By working together, we can build a more equitable and just society for all.
