Policy Analysis and Applied Research

In 2023/24, UNDP published seven reports on key areas such as public finance and tourism. These publications contribute to evidence-based policymaking, positioning UNDP as a thought leader in Guinea-Bissau. Moreover, UNDP is developing the Crisis Risk Dashboard (CRD), a tool to forecast socio-economic risks in real time.

Private Sector Development and Job Creation

A key focus of UNDP’s efforts is supporting the private sector, particularly micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), with a special emphasis on women and youth. In 2023, 1,099 businesses benefited from training, grants, and mentoring through UNDP initiatives. The Kau Criar platform was also launched to foster networking and skill development among entrepreneurs.

Blue Economy

UNDP has been supporting the development of Guinea-Bissau’s National Blue Economy Strategy, validated by the Government in July 2024. The strategy promotes sustainable growth in sectors such as eco-tourism and fisheries, with a strong focus on women’s participation.

Social Protection

Through the Na No Mon community support platform, UNDP fosters grassroots initiatives by providing small grants for innovative, sustainable development projects. These efforts align with Guinea-Bissau’s National Social Protection Policy and Strategy.
