Achieving Kuwait 2035 Vision Towards Persons with Disability

Project Overview

In support of the government’s realization of Kuwait National Development Plan (KNDP), UNDP has dedicated a full project to supporting the country’s Public Authority for Disabled Affairs (PADA), within the context of UNDP Country Programme Document; CPD and CPAP for 2015-2018.

The project supports the achievement of Kuwait 2035 Vision towards people with disability through the support of PADA’s institutional and human resource capacity, and the implementation of various components to increase inclusion of Persons with Disabilities in education, employment, accessibility, ICT and society in general.

The project also ensures sustainability of this work by strengthening PADA as it assumes its leadership role as the national institution in the field of disability. This means supporting PADA and situating it more firmly as the national focal point of disability, which includes plans to enhance its human capacities and organizational effectiveness, and establishing specific mechanisms to strengthen its inclusive social services.

With this powerful foundation to truly move forward, PADA is set to achieve the country’s vision of persons with disability participating fully and inclusively in social life and together in national development, enjoying the full scope of human rights, as the project brings all involved toward the paradigm shift needed to ensure that the current sustainable development goals are inclusive, leaving no person with disabilities behind.

Project Highlights

The project provides a framework for technical support to PADA and other governmental entities interacting with persons with disability, to create the enabling environment that is part of the KNDP’s vision towards persons with disability.  The project will also ensure sustainability of work, through UNDP’s transfer of knowledge, skills, and capacities to PADA, as well as other related public entities and civil society organizations working for the benefit and empowerment of persons with disabilities.
