Congratulations to Asiya Arzibekova, an alumna of our project, on winning the Student Startup competition of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Kyrgyz Republic!
December 29, 2023
Asiya Arzibekova, 19, was born in the village of Tashtak, Suzak district, Jalal-Abad region, she is a student of Jalal-Abad State University, Department of Information Technology. She shares her success story.
"I am a future programmer, one of the best professions in the world with a great perspective. I have a brother and a sister, my mother is a housewife and my father is a carpenter. I was already interested in design before participating in the Digital Aiymdar project, and planned to study and work in the field of design. Since I am studying on a commercial basis and need to pay tuition fees, I was looking for financial opportunities. One day, when I thought I would not be able to continue my studies, my aunt shared about the opportunity to enroll in Digital Aiymdar, which is a UNDP social project. I immediately found the information on Instagram, filled out the application form, after which, UNDP's implementing partner Youth of Osh contacted me and conducted an interview. A few days later I was informed that I was accepted.
Thanks to participation in the "Sanarip Aymdar" project, I expanded my horizons and met successful people who shared their experiences. My attitude towards people changed for the better. I used to be reserved, but now I've become more open. In the project, I studied graphic design and actively participated. I learned a lot in this course and quickly started practicing. I received an internship invitation at the university and from a private entrepreneur, and then I started receiving and fulfilling orders independently. When I go to the city and see paintings, logos, or banners, I start paying attention to design and distinguishing its features. My perspective on life has also changed.
Before participating in the project, I felt insecure, wondering how I could reach heights. But after the project, I started developing actively, as if climbing the Himalayas. Other project participants also gained great motivation from their involvement.
On May 26, 2023, I presented my idea "Mal Zhan Sanak" at a pitch in Osh. Although I didn't win that competition, I gained additional experience, strengthened myself, and participated in the "Student Startup" competition of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Kyrgyz Republic.
Out of more than 1400 applications for the competition, 14 student startups were selected. On December 22, 2023, eight startup projects, including my project "Mal Zhan Sanak," reached the final and won the competition. I received state funding for my startup in the amount of 770,000 soms.
Asia's project "Mal Zhan Sanak" is an idea for creating a special application that will facilitate the daily counting of livestock (cattle, small cattle, etc.) for farmers, which takes a lot of time. Asia shared that the idea of the application arose in 2022 during a conversation with her uncle, who asked her to become a programmer and create a program to make his work easier. Through accurate counting of livestock, the application is intended to timely detect the loss or theft of livestock. According to Asia's plan, the digital solution will also be useful for veterinarians, livestock and meat traders, and even zoo employees.
The project #DigitalAiymdar is implemented by the NGO "Youth of Osh" as part of the UNDP project with financial support of the Russian Federation.
