The justice sector plays a pivotal role in ensuring that survivors of gender-based violence
receive effective justice, whether it be through holding perpetrators to account, providing
fair reparations, and, sometimes most importantly, giving survivors the chance to be
heard. Improving the justice system, including having a clear and coherent mechanism in
place, sends a resolute message that violence will not be tolerated in society.

This Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for the Justice Sector Response to and
Prevention of Violence against Women and Children represents a collaborative effort,
bringing together collective expertise, knowledge, and experience from various stakeholders within the justice sector. The SOP establishes clear processes and standards to respond to cases of violence against women.
