Who we are

As the United Nations lead agency on international development, United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) works in nearly 170 countries and territories, including Mongolia, helping the country to develop policies, leadership skills, partnering abilities, institutional capabilities and build resilience in order to sustain development results.

UNDP in Mongolia is guided by the Country Programme Document 2023-2027 and the UN-Mongolia Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework 2023-2027, which are in line with the priorities of the Government of Mongolia and UNDP’s global objectives. Our work is concentrated in three focus areas: effective governance, climate change resilience, and natural resources management. 

The Government of Mongolia signed the first official Standard Basic Assistance Agreement with UNDP in 1976 continuing the partnership established early on. Since then, UNDP has been working with all local and international partners to improve the lives of the Mongolian people – women and men, boys and girls, and support the Government of Mongolia achieve Sustainable Development Goals and its national development priorities.

Recognizing the complexity of development challenges, increasing advances in technology as well as the call for a data revolution, we have been investing in innovation, using approaches such as design thinking and foresight tools such as games, mobile applications, and big data to challenge business as usual and develop the next generation of development solutions. #FutureSmartUNDP
