The Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs)’ project held its third project steering committee meeting on December 13, to approve its 2023 annual work plan.
As 2022’s final quarter draws to a close, we have been having a series of Board meetings with our partners and stakeholders to continue gaining high-quality input into our work, facilitate transparent decision-making, promote dialogue, and to plan ahead for the new year and programming cycles.
The Resilience and Climate Change (RCC) and the Integrated Governance Programme (IGP) portfolios focused on merging the Government and development partner's investment and commitment to aligned interests. The Third Board Meeting of the IGP, held on December 20, was an opportunity to share and reflect on key results for 2022. The meeting also presented an Annual Work Plan for 2023 and attained the principal endorsement of the IGP board. The IGP Board is chaired by UNDP, with co-chairs being the Attorney General’s Office, the Ministry of Gender, Family, and Social Services, and the Local Government Authority. The stronger emphasis of the board meeting was to reflect on our efforts, identify synergies, and optimize resources and intelligence across the board.
RCC ended the year with four board meetings in Quarter 4, with the first on November 29th, for ‘Developing Sustainable Agricultural Economy (PDSAE)’ project. The meeting highlighted many lessons learned along with PDSAE 2022 implementation progress and a work plan for 2023. The work plan for 2023 was approved by the Project Steering Committee members and will be utilized in sustaining the project activities.
On December 8, a board meeting was held for the Green Climate Funds project, ‘Supporting Vulnerable Communities in the Maldives to Manage Climate Change-Induced Water Shortages’. Following this, the ‘Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs)’ project held its third project steering committee meeting on December 13, to approve its 2023 annual work plan. The meeting also endorsed a procurement plan for the project’s activities.
the First Project Steering Committee of ‘Strengthening National and Subnational Capacity for Sustainable Disaster Risk Reduction, Climate Change Adaptation, and Mitigation in the Maldives (SIDS JP)’ was held on December 18th.
As a final meeting for the year 2022, the First Project Steering Committee of ‘Strengthening National and Subnational Capacity for Sustainable Disaster Risk Reduction, Climate Change Adaptation, and Mitigation in the Maldives (SIDS JP)’ was held on December 18th. The meeting was held with the UN Resident Coordinator, the Local Government Authority, the Ministry of Finance, the National Disaster Management Authority, and UNDP (for UNESCAP). The meeting also compiled a work plan, an acceleration plan, and a mitigation plan for 2023. This plan includes modules for capacity development for the use of fiscal policy tools available to local councils and developing a toolkit on resource mobilization for local councils.
