From 12 to 28 December 2022, the Ministry of Employment and Labour Relations and the United Nations Development Programme organized and conducted a series of trainings on improving financial literacy and management of family finances for the low-income population in the Fergana Valley regions.
The trainings were attended by more than 180 young entrepreneurs, students and graduates of universities and colleges, as well as persons undergoing training in specialties at the “Ishga Markhamat” Employment Promotion Monocenters and interested in getting a job.
During the mini-lectures, group exercises, game cases, UNDP business trainers Alisher Islamov and Lola Razzakova shared their knowledge and skills in cash management on wages, expenses, savings, investment, and credit.
Issues such as the creation of a road map for the achievement of financial literacy, the correct organization of sources of income, proper cost management, the application of the Eisenhower matrix in the planned family budget, the role of women and men in the family and their uniqueness in financial management, the general idea of taxes, insurance and its role in protecting the family budget, life hacks financial literacy, etc. were considered in detail.
During the trainings, it was possible to create effective interaction between all categories of participants: during the discussions, entrepreneurs shared real examples from practice, students spoke about the theoretical aspects of the issues under discussion, and all other participants supplemented the discussion with examples from everyday life. All this made it possible to look at the issues under discussion from different angles, which increased the effectiveness of the trainings.
This initiative is implemented within the framework of the joint project of the Ministry of Employment and Labour Relations of the Republic of Uzbekistan and UNDP «Adaptation of population skills to the post-pandemic economy in the Fergana Valley».
