Rehabilitation of people with visual impairments: analysis of the situation

Our new manual, "Rehabilitation of people with visual impairments: analysis of the situation" is available is to enhance the quality of life for individuals with visual impairments in Ukraine. The publication, which incorporates numerous international best practices and standards, as well as national legislation and regulations, includes a comprehensive assessment of the current state of rehabilitation services for individuals with visual impairments.
The focus of this analysis revolves around the rehabilitation of people with visual impairments. The guide encompasses both positive aspects of the situation, such as a clear definition of rehabilitation and the availability of rehabilitation services, and areas that require improvement. These areas include the need for clear accountability in managing rehabilitation services and the development of infrastructure. Additionally, the guide offers information on funding and the availability of rehabilitation services across different facilities.
Based on the analysis conclusions, several recommendations are made. These include the development of new rehabilitation centers and specialized training programs for professionals. The importance of adopting a comprehensive approach to rehabilitation services, encompassing social rehabilitation and the provision of necessary aids and equipment, is also emphasized.
