What Ukrainians know about human rights: progress study 2016 – 2023
July 29, 2024
This study “What Ukrainians know about human rights” is the fourth in a series of studies conducted by Ilko Kucheriv Democratic Initiatives Foundation at the initiative of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Ukraine, with the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark and in partnership with ZMINA Human Rights Centre. It presents results of a survey of what Ukrainians know about human rights and how they assess respect for human rights. The studies were conducted during 2016-2024 to research the perception, thoughts and understanding of human rights and fundamental freedoms in society in general and among certain target groups.
Like the three previous rounds, this study is a unique source of information on how Ukrainians – including such professional groups as human rights activists, civil servants, journalists and teachers – understand and assess human rights. Especially now, when Ukraine is developing new policies and approaches to recovery and reconstruction to eliminate the effects of the full-scale war, these data will be of use for a new strategic vision focused on the individual and respect for human rights.
The results of the surveys conducted in 2016, 2018 and 2020 can be found here.
The views presented in this study do not necessarily reflect the views of UNDP or the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark.
