What we do
The "Mainstreaming human security approach in policy making to support the recovery of Syunik region" project is improving the regional and community development planning (CDP) process of the Syunik region, by mainstreaming the concept of human security into existing norms, planning processes and institutions to systematically address the local insecurities and protect people from critical threats.
Some results so far
The professional knowledge of 150 local government representatives, SCOs and private entities was improved for development and implementation of people-centered, prevention oriented, local content-specific and interconnected five-year development planning processes.

A comprehensive assessment and analysis of the 5 year CDPs of target communities was carried out.
Social dialogue has been promoted at local for job creation and livelihood strengthening. An analysis of the market value chain was carried out, which will be presented to partner ministries and local governments in the near future.
The recommendations for the modernization of 5 year CDP methodology were developed, which will be turned into legal drafts and presented to local governments by December 2024
A digital tool for community development planning with integrated human security approach is being developed for more effective policy development, implementation and monitoring, which will be presented to MTAI and selected communities by December 2024.
Expected results
By the end of the project it is expected that the targeted public and private entities will be capable to assess, develop and implement more comprehensive, context specific, people centered and prevention-oriented responses in responding to the complexity and interrelatedness of compounding challenges that the communities face, such as the public administration, social protection, economic development, climate and disaster risk reduction, etc. Originally, the Project has targeted the Syunik region and its Syunik, Goris, Kapan and Meghri consolidated communities for action. However, thanks to the intensive collaboration with the RA Ministry of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure, the Project has developed set of policy recommendations for integration in RA Community Development Planning Methodology and applicable national legislation, which will instantly extend sustainability and ensure the replication of Project’s main products nationwide.
