The workshop focused on the role of civil society organisations (CSOs) in addressing corruption, in line with the United Nations Convention Against Corruption (UNCAC). Participants had the opportunity to discuss the UNCAC and gain knowledge on its best practices, global standards, and effective approaches relevant to transparency, accountability, and anti-corruption. 

‘’The training will enable the participants to foster a culture of integrity and transparency, which is essential for sustainable development and the establishment of trust in public institutions, ’said Dr. Alma Sedlar, Chief Technical Advisor (anti-Corruption), UNDP. 

Other topics covered during the session were, how to protect whistle-blowers, Internal Accountability, and transparency of CSOs, Role of CSOs in developing and monitoring the National Anti-Corruption Strategy and National Plan of action. 

‘’As civil society officials today’s session is vital, it will equip you with the necessary tools to support and influence policy by advocating for anti-corruption laws and reforms, and the implementation of international anti-corruption conventions and practices,’’ said Mrs. Josephine Pitmur, Deputy Secretary, Department of Justice & Attorney General (DJAG). 

Representatives of Civil Society Organizations, Youth groups, Women’s Organizations, active citizens, and journalists, participated in the workshop. 

This workshop will be followed with more specific trainings to build the capacity of Civil Society to demand increased transparency and accountability and monitor the implementation of anti-corruption measures.
