Strategic Support to Accelerate Climate Action in Sri Lanka
The Government of Sri Lanka recently submitted its updated Nationally Determined Contribution (NDCs) targets to the UNFCCC in 2021. These ambitious targets highlighted the need for consistent and coherent effort across government and society to implement NDCs and accelerate progress on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in the context of the decade of action. UNDP will support the Government to move from pledge to action to realize climate action and net-zero targets, and transform the country’s development trajectory towards a sustainable, resilient and green economic recovery. Complementing this, UNDP will conduct inclusive consultations with diverse stakeholders nationally and sub-nationally to build a shared vision and accelerate implementation of environmental commitments in preparing for the international meeting “Stockholm+50: a healthy planet for the prosperity of all – our responsibility, our opportunity”.
