Background
The joint project between UNDP and the Ministry of Finance and Economy of Turkmenistan “Partnering for SDG acceleration”, which was launched in 2018, is a joint platform for coordinating the work of the relevant ministries and departments of Turkmenistan and UN agencies in the implementation of the SDGs. During the implementation of the project, partners have achieved a number of notable achievements, in this regard, it is proposed to implement the second phase of the project.
The project goals
The purpose of the second phase of this project is to increase the capacity of the Ministry of Finance and Economy of Turkmenistan as a responsible body for coordinating activities to implement the Sustainable Development Goals adopted by the United Nations Member States in Turkmenistan.
The project will include the following components:
- Assistance on financing for development in the context of SDG implementation.
- Strengthening national capacities to improve the trade system.
Towards achieving gender equality
Processes to improve the development finance system and trade system will facilitate the linkage of various sources of financing with the directions of the implementation of gender policy and the achievement of sustainable development goals.
The project contributes to the preparation of periodic reports on progress in achieving the SDGs of Turkmenistan, which include issues of ensuring gender equality and empowering women and girls. The reports present national policy documents in the field of gender policy, as well as progress in its implementation. The Second Voluntary Review provides for the presentation of progress in achieving gender issues and measures to improve gender policy, as well as further integration of the gender aspect into national/sectoral programs and strengthening the monitoring of gender statistics.
