Gender Equality and Resilience in Ukraine's Energy Sector: Pathways to Transformative Employment and Leadership Amidst War
November 13, 2024
As Ukraine advances its green energy transition even as the war continues, significant challenges remain –including psychological strain on the workforce and gender inequality in the traditional energy sector. In response, UNDP is implementing gender-transformative actions through its Green Energy Recovery Programme to address these gaps and support inclusive recovery.
Despite progress, challenges such as the underrepresentation of women in leadership, gender pay gaps, traditional norms, and increased caregiving responsibilities highlight the need for gender-sensitive policies, STEM education, and community initiatives to promote inclusivity and resilience.
Supported by the Governments of Japan and Norway, UNDP’s gender analysis, "Gender Equality and Resilience in Ukraine's Energy Sector: Pathways to Transformative Employment and Leadership Amidst War," underscores the importance of fostering gender equality, diversity, and inclusion to build a resilient workforce.
