Today, we gather to celebrate the generous contribution of Goverment of Japan in providing the e-trucks dedicated to supporting the crucial cause of plastic waste and solid waste collection and transportation.
UNDP highly appreciates our fruitful cooperation with Binh Dinh province and Quy Nhon City to accelerate waste, plastic management and a low carbon-cicular economy. Thanks to the policies and strategies developed by the provincial government, as well as Quy Nhon City’s own commitment to becoming a pioneer in green and sustainable development.
Mr. Vice Chairman, Ladies and Gentlemen,
The plastic waste crisis requires collective action at every level, and the Material Recovery Facility (MRF) plays a pivotal role in transforming waste into valuable resources. The e-trucks we are handing over today will serve as the backbone for waste collection system, transporting plastic wastes from Quy Nhon city to the MRF. The e-trucks are expected to play a significant role in collection and transportation of plastic and recyclable wastes in Quy Nhon city.
UNDP is implementing energy transition projects in line with the Just Energy Transition Partnership (JETP). More specifically, we are implementing the project with the support of the Japanese Government with the goal of promoting the development of electric transportation, by developing a policy framework, action plan and capacity building, implementing green transportation initiatives in a number of provinces and cities including Ho Chi Minh City, Hue, Tuy Hoa and Quy Nhon.
I would like to take this opportunity to extend my deepest gratitude to Goverment of Japan for your investment in these e-trucks, which is an investment in the well-being of our planet and the prosperity of communities that will benefit from cleaner environments and new economic opportunities.
We would like to extend our appreciation to Binh Dinh PPC and Quy Nhon City PC, as well as to all of our partners and stakeholders working together to bring these e-trucks to Binh Dinh today. We look forward to continuing working with you to get the trucks moving in Quy Nhon City, transporting waste and contributing to a greener Binh Dinh.
Finally, as we hand over these e-trucks today, let us also pledge to work hand in hand — governments, communities, and businesses alike — to ensure the success of this initiative. Let us be steadfast in our commitment to leaving no one behind and building a world where prosperity is shared sustainably.
