・AFRICA STARTUP ECOSYSTEM MAPPING REPORT

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), in partnership with Japan's Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI), publish a Startup Ecosystem Report for Angola, South Africa and Zambia under its “Meet the Tôshikas” program. The initiative, facilitated by the Africa Sustainable Finance Hub (ASFH), in close collaboration with UNDP Country Office, aims to facilitate large-scale venture capital investment from Japan into Africa's promising startup ecosystem.

Key information on the generally accessible startup ecosystem in Africa is limited and partial. In addition, it tends to be difficult for investors and private companies to obtain sufficient information to consider investing in startups or entering into business partnerships, which is one of the factors hindering the development of the startup ecosystem. 

Therefore, this study was conducted using UNDP's Ecosystem Development Approach and other frameworks to organize information on startups and startup ecosystems in Angola, South Africa, and Zambia, and to identify their characteristics, potentials, and problems.
