Katarzyna Wawiernia
Resident Representative, UNDP Kazakhstan
Katarzyna Wawiernia is a native of Poland, serving in the United Nations since 2005. She held Resident Representative Position in UNDP Sao Tome e Principe since April 1, 2019. She also held Resident Coordinator interim function in Sao Tome e Principe for one and a half year.
Prior to this appointment, Katarzyna was UNDP Deputy Resident Representative in Malawi (2013-2018). From 2008-2013, she served as UNDP Deputy Resident Representative in Guinea-Bissau. From 2005 to 2008, Katarzyna was responsible for capacity building and procurement at UNDP Angola.
Prior to that, Katarzyna worked for five years as a microfinance advisor in the non-governmental sector in South Africa and Mozambique, where she managed income-generating programmes for refugees. She started her career in the corporate sector in Poland in 1996.
Katarzyna holds a master’s degree in Banking and Finance from the Warsaw School of Economics (Poland) and a Postgraduate Certificate in International Development (specialising in Conflict, Security, and Development) from the University of Birmingham (United Kingdom).
She speaks English, Portuguese, French, Spanish, and basic Russian. Katarzyna likes traveling, and discovering new cultures. She has volunteerism at her heart and likes being among people in the field. She has two twin daughters.
Sukhrob Khojimatov
Deputy Resident Representative, UNDP Kazakhstan
Sukhrob Khojimatov is an acting Senior Manager in UNDP Kazakhstan with over 25 years of experience in Development and Programme Management in International Organizations as well as in Governmental Institutions and private sector, sustained by master’s degree in law.
Sukhrob was appointed as UNDP Deputy Resident Representative in Kazakhstan in July 2022. Prior to that, he was acting Resident Representative in UNDP Azerbaijan, Deputy Resident Representative in Turkey (2017 – 2022); Deputy Country Director in Somalia and Director of UNDP Somalia Nairobi Support Office (2013 – 2017). Before that, he was in UNDP HQ on a detail assignment in a position of the Head of Policy and Operations Support Unit within Regional Bureau for Europe and CIS (RBEC). Prior to that, Sukhrob has worked as Assistant Resident Representative and Programme Manager in UNDP Tajikistan (2006 – 2013).
Before joining UNDP from 2000 until 2006, Sukhrob held several senior positions in USAID Legal and Economic Development Projects in Tajikistan. He began his career in the Office of General Prosecutor of Tajikistan in 1996.
Sukhrob holds a master’s degree in law, from the Tajik National University and post diploma degree in Russian State University of Justice and National Judicial College in University of Nevada in Reno.
Sukhrob fluently speaks English, Russian and Farsi/Tajik languages.
