OUR PARTNERS
Partnership is at the heart of everything UNDP does. Our substantial expertise cuts across diverse development issues and settings. These valuable assets combined with our long legacy of trust have made us a partner of choice.
Government of Kazakhstan
The Government of Kazakhstan is the strategic partner of UNDP. Being an upper middle-income country, Kazakhstan co-finances the UNDP office presence in the country and most of the projects through established mechanisms. A large part of the current country programme comes from the national budget. Learn more about the contributing partners that make UNDP’s work in Kazakhstan possible.
International Financial Institutions
International Financial Institutions (IFIs) are an important source of development funding. They account for a large portion of the non-core (earmarked, project-specific) funding of UNDP. UNDP Kazakhstan has joint projects with some IFIs, such as the World Bank and the Asian Development Bank.
Civil Society Organizations
For UNDP, civil society constitutes the full range of formal and informal organizations that are outside the state and market. This includes volunteer organizations, non-governmental organizations and community-based organizations, as well as communities and citizens acting individually and collectively.
UNDP partners with civil society organizations in programme implementation and policy advocacy. This often means working with them to provide basic services in the areas of health, education, social protection, environment and micro-credit provision.
Private Sector
The private sector can make an important contribution to development by fostering innovation, providing funding and promoting entrepreneurship in developing countries. In Kazakhstan, we partner with business companies to promote energy efficiency, tackle climate change, and protect ecosystems.
United Nations System
UNDP Kazakhstan works closely with UN agencies in the country that contribute to the attainment of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development at the country level and which collectively constitute the UN country team (UNCT). The UNCT provides strategic direction and oversight to ensure UN entities deliver coherent, effective and efficient support to the Government of Kazakhstan in its achievement of sustainable development.

UN Volunteers
Volunteerism is a powerful means of engaging people in tackling development challenges, and it can transform the pace and nature of development. Volunteerism benefits both society and the individual volunteer by strengthening trust, solidarity, and reciprocity among citizens, and by purposefully creating opportunities for participation.
The United Nations Volunteers (UNV) programme is the UN organization that promotes volunteerism to support peace and development worldwide by advocating for volunteerism, encouraging partners to integrate volunteerism into development programming and mobilizing volunteers.
UNDP Kazakhstan employs over 20 UN Volunteers in such areas as climate change, governance, social protection, energy and environment.
