Supporting climate and disaster resilience and nature-based, low-carbon growth
The organization is actively engaged in assisting Kazakhstan to honor its commitments under the Paris Agreement. Its focus lies in expanding the green economy to unlock new opportunities for job creation and business growth.
Collaborating with other United Nations agencies, UNDP is providing technical expertise to translate strategies into actionable plans. This includes establishing a monitoring framework for climate adaptation and mitigation, as well as developing comprehensive transition plans for green energy, land management, biodiversity, reforestation, disaster risk reduction, and waste management.
Within its climate action efforts, the organization’s emphasis is on developing and amplifying financing mechanisms for clean technologies and low-carbon business development through a green finance accelerator. This initiative builds upon successfully piloted mechanisms for energy efficiency and renewable energy, with aspirations to encompass a wider array of sectors.
Additionally, the organization is introducing and scaling up innovative farming techniques for biodiversity, pastoralism, and irrigated agriculture. It also aims to strengthen natural disaster prevention and response systems in the face of increasing risks.
