Creating a Localized Liveability Index for Hulhumale': Paving the Way for Sustainable and Inclusive Development

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in the Maldives is collaborating with Urbanco to develop a localized livability index for Hulhumalé - a city focused on sustainable urban planning . The goal of this intervention is to build resilient and sustainable communities within Hulhumalé by rethinking policies, engaging diverse perspectives, and harnessing data for inclusive development.
Creating places that adapt to the rapidly changing world necessitates a comprehensive understanding of the factors that contribute to a convenient and pleasant urban living experience. The Hulhumalé livability index adopts a data-driven approach, providing decision-makers with valuable insights for informed choices.
By prioritizing sustainability, resiliency, and social equity, our aim is to address the complexities of building a city that thrives amidst global challenges. UNDP Maldives and Urbanco are committed to examining five key pillars within the livability index.
